The distance between theAndes Mountains and the ocean is less than 110 miles, and in some places it is possible to see mountains from the coasts of the Pacific Ocean. Nevertheless the distance between Arica to Punta Arenas is similar to the distance between New York and Los Angeles. Like its geography, its climate is extreme and diverse. There are places like Atacama Desert, considered to be one of the driest places on the planet and others like Tierra del Fuego, famous for it’s freezing winds. Chile is famous for it’s wines; they produce some of the best wines in the world according to wine connoisseurs’. The Valley of Colchagua, has a very special weather due to its proximity to the sea and the winds from the Andes, these optimal geographic conditions make it the ideal place to harvest quality grapes to produce red and white wines. We believe that our “Splendid Chile” program will exceed the expectations of even the most experienced travelers. This is a place with large colonial houses with big patios, and beautiful gardens, where the wineries still preserve their traditional look and atmosphere. This region offers tourists the possibility of taking long walks while enjoying amazing landscapes, and wonderful views of the vineyards and native forests. It is also the ideal place to relax and enjoy the weather in the company of a good wine in one the haciendas in the area. This trip also includes a visit to The Lakes region, a remote area with gorgeous fields full of horses, beautiful plantations, and very unique and lively traditional cultural celebrations. The colonies formed by German immigrants have left their mark in the region and given a unique atmosphere to the towns around the Llanquihue Lake.
